hello guys. here i am again, writing again in my spare time. it’s not that i didn’t have any spare time during first block, but it’s true you know, what my friend once told me,
if you have spare time, you’d better use it to sleep
before i tell you what block what i’m in, let me explain to you my coass system here. so to reach the ‘dentist’ title, we have to pass 4 blocks which are consist of 9 departments: conservation (dental filling, root canal treatment), prosthodontic (tooth prosthetic), oral surgery (dental extraction, wisdom tooth extraction), oral medicine, pediatric dental (to treat children’s tooth), periodontal, orthodontics, radiology, public dental health (dental in hospitals).
- 1st block: conservation, prosthodontics, orthodontics
- 2nd block: oral surgery, oral medicine, orthodontics, radiology
- 3rd block: pediatric dental, periodontal, orthodontics, radiology
after we finish through all 3 blocks but orthodontic, we can continue to the 4th block, which is public dental health where we were distributed among hospitals around here. while orthodontic patient must still control every week.
each block member was divided by the sum of our batch, and then divided by three, and the first group went to the 1st block, 2 group to the 2nd block, and the third went to the third block
so, these last 4 almost 5 months, i’ve been in the 2nd block that consist of 4 departments: oral surgery, oral medicine, orthodontics, and radiology. so yea, alhamdulillah all of the reqiurement of oral surgery has been finished, radiology as well. i can continue to the 2nd session of radiology. while oral medicine….hmm…how can i explain it, i got no patient that can be indicated to my supervisor, so i failed to fill my requirements.
so in the oral surgery department, we have to get 50 points. it is include individual tooth extraction, root extraction, odontectomy and suture. and each tooth of extraction has a different point. if it necrose posterior, we got 3 points. if it radices in any element or region, we got 1 point. but if it necrose in the anterior region, we got 2 points. and odontectomy got 4 point. so yeah, i got more than 50 points, 56 points to be precised for tooth and root extraction. and i did odontectomy to 2 patients, and they have went to control and hecting aff.
in radiology, we have to observe first. we observe how to give instructions to patients, how to positioned patient in each technique, like periapical, bitewing, occlusal, panoramic, and cephalometric, either analog or digital. and how to processed the film. and then we have to discuss our observation result with our supervisor, and then if our supervisor already satisfied, we got to do it on our own. yup, we have to radiograph to patient without help, from positioning, photo, and processing. then we discuss again about the image result in our own radiograph. it’s okay if it’s not perfect as long as we know where’s the fault and why we did it wrong. next, we interpreted radiograph image. but not all images, only if there are caries and periodontal disorder in the image. the minimum requirements are 5 caries images and 2 periodontal images. and if all of it was done, then we evaluate our works with our supervisor, and if we passed, we can continue to the next session, ,which i did hihihi.
next is oral medicine. hmm it’s quite hard you know to find patients with specific requirements. we have 7 requirements here including 5 main cases and 2 additional cases. 5 main cases are immunologic, vesicobulo ulcerative, infection of the mouth, systemic, neoplasm. and the additional cases were…hmm i forgot haha. because i haven’t found any patients haha.
well, i only got 3 cases. well all of three were main cases, which were immunologic, vesicobullo ulcerative, and neoplasm. beside the rareness of the patients, the thing that got me stuck on doing anything was my supervisor themselves. we have 6 supervisors, and every case must be supervised with different doctor. then, if i want to check the patient to my supervisor, we have to write down their medical record. but every supervisor have their own standard on how to write medical record. i took a long time confusing which one i had to do first, and end up doing nothing lol. next, after we check our patients to our supervisor, we have to discuss our writing on the medical record, and then we write down a report which its content was the same as in medical record but in full-length version. and then we have to wait until our supervisor checked our report. some of them must take a few weeks, and some of them only a few days. huft. some of them have an additional task to make, and some of them must take test first before our result came out. you see, it’s different between the supervisors.
that’s why i can’t fill my requirements. there so many things to do before our period ended.
oh, and orthodontics, during the time, we just have to control the patient once a week. it require 2 patients, while i still got 1 patient. well, it’s not the permanent orthodontic, it’s the one that can be take in or out by the patient orthodontics.
maybe if you want to be my patient, you can contact me haha. but in Yogyakarta only. i can’t make you my patient if you’re hundreds kilometers away, right? how am i suppose to take you here? by plane? lol not happening.
